COMO Shambhala Estate
"Twenty-two acres of Balinese jungle above the Ayung River, with Ayurvedic programming and yoga instruction that set the standard every imitator in Southeast Asia is measured against."
"A mind-first wellness retreat built on the bones of an Aman resort — 18 suites in a Balinese teak forest where longevity science, spiritual ceremony, and genuine silence converge into something most retreats only approximate."
Revivo occupies three hectares of tropical teak forest in the hills of Nusa Dua — the same site that once housed the Amanusa, designed by the late Kerry Hill. The bones are extraordinary: natural stone, thatch pavilions, open-air walkways that make the act of moving between buildings a meditative practice. What Revivo has built on those bones is a wellness retreat that leads with the mind rather than the body, grounded in a thesis that mental transformation is the prerequisite for all physical change.
Eighteen suites. No children under 12. No televisions. A minimum three-night stay for signature programs. The Latin name means "I live again," and the programming — six structured retreats spanning stress, sleep, detox, immunity, weight, and mindfulness — is designed to produce a reset that outlasts the stay. The recent addition of the Vitao longevity centre, with IHHT, PEMF, and red-light therapy, adds clinical depth that the original concept lacked.

Revivo offers six signature immersive retreats, each structured around a minimum three-night stay:
De-Stress & Relax: Restorative yoga, pranayama, magnesium-rich nutrition, grounding spa rituals. The entry-level program and the most popular.
Mindfulness & Emotional Balance: Guided meditation, chakra balancing, Reiki, sound healing, gut-brain nutrition protocols. The most philosophically ambitious offering.
Sleep Well & Reset: Circadian rhythm restoration through sleep-optimized nutrition, gentle movement, lymphatic drainage, and light exposure protocols. Guests with chronic sleep disruption report measurable improvement.
Detox & Cleanse: High-fiber, antioxidant-forward menus paired with HIIT, herbal compress massage, body wraps, and detox teas. The most physically intensive program.
Immunity & Gut Balance: Microbiome-supportive nutrition, lymphatic flow movement, and IV immune-boosting. The most clinically oriented of the six.
Sustainable Weight Loss: Macronutrient-balanced nutrition with TRX, circuit training, slimming spa treatments, and red-light therapy.
Each program begins with a pre-arrival health questionnaire and bio-impedance analysis, followed by personalized consultations on-site. The branded Latin pillars — Remissio (spa), Moveo (movement), Nutrio (nutrition), Nocturno (sleep), Vitao (longevity), Animo (spiritual) — are more than naming convention. They represent an integrated framework where each element informs the others.
The Vitao longevity hub, launched in early 2025, is the most significant addition to the property since opening. The facility houses Cellgym Intermittent Hypoxia-Hyperoxia Training (IHHT), Pulsed Electromagnetic Field therapy (PEMF), advanced red-light photobiomodulation, infrared sauna domes, compression boots, and VO2 max testing. The clinical depth here approaches — though does not match — dedicated longevity clinics like SHA or Lanserhof.
The pricing is à la carte on top of retreat packages: individual treatments range from approximately $30 (compression boots) to $380 (the Ultimate Vitality Experience, a 120-minute protocol combining multiple modalities). For guests already on a retreat program, the Vitao sessions add meaningful clinical value without requiring a separate medical facility.
The Nutrio restaurant operates under Executive Chef Joshua Purwo Caroko with a food-as-medicine philosophy. Every dish is nutritionally designed to align with the guest's specific retreat goals and body composition analysis. Ingredients are sourced exclusively from local Balinese farmers and the on-site permaculture garden. No gluten, no dairy, no additives, no refined ingredients.
The critical distinction: this does not feel like restriction. The cooking is generous, flavorful, and abundant. Keto, vegan, vegetarian, and various elimination protocols are handled seamlessly — you do not experience your dietary requirements as a limitation at the table. Guests consistently describe the food as a highlight rather than a concession.

Kerry Hill's architecture remains the property's greatest asset. The suites — Garden Suites (126 sqm), Courtyard Suites (142 sqm), and private pool villas up to 4,000 sqm — are built from local stone and wood, with cool floors, four-poster beds, voile draping, sunken bathtubs, and outdoor showers. No televisions. The design intention is that walking through the teak forest between your suite and the restaurant is itself a contemplative practice. It works.
The spa houses five double treatment rooms, each with a private outdoor bath. The 25-meter lap pool is set among tropical gardens. Hot and cold plunge pools, infrared saunas, and a hammam complete the hydrotherapy circuit. The resident temple priest leads Balinese water purification ceremonies and full moon cacao and sound healing events — these are not imported wellness theater but authentic spiritual practice integrated with genuine care.
Integration. Revivo is one of the few retreats where the mind-body connection is not a marketing phrase but an operational principle. The mental health programming — mindfulness, breathwork, somatic practices, sound healing — is given equal weight with the physical. The spa knows what the nutritionist prescribed. The movement instructor knows your sleep data. The retreat functions as a coordinated system rather than a collection of individual services.
The intimacy of 18 suites means the staff-to-guest ratio is exceptional. Personalization is genuine, not performative. Your retreat is adapted to you, not to a template.
The Balinese spiritual integration — led by a resident priest rather than a visiting practitioner — gives the property a grounding in place that imported wellness concepts cannot replicate.
Some villas show their age. The property occupies a former Aman resort, and not every corner has been renovated to the same standard. Guests in older units report maintenance issues — flushing problems, dim lighting, worn fixtures. The disparity between the newer and older wings is noticeable.
The tropical setting means insects. Plunge pools, outdoor bathtubs, and garden suites attract the full Balinese ecosystem. This is not a resort problem — it is a latitude problem — but guests accustomed to sealed environments should calibrate expectations.
The access road is poorly lit and unsigned. Ride-hail drivers routinely struggle to find the property. The isolation is deliberate, but arrival logistics need improvement.
Upselling is a friction point. Several guests report that treatments they expected to be included in retreat pricing — breathwork sessions, sauna access, additional yoga — carried separate charges. The line between what is included and what is à la carte should be clearer at booking.
Room-only rates start around $125–390 per night depending on season. Signature retreat packages (all-inclusive: accommodation, meals, daily movement and mindfulness classes, spa treatments, wellness coaching) start from approximately $415 per person per night. A five-night De-Stress retreat for a single guest in a Garden Suite runs approximately $4,500–5,500 all-in. Vitao longevity treatments are additional.
The value calculation favors the retreat packages. Room-only guests access a beautiful property but miss the integrated programming that justifies Revivo's positioning. Book the retreat.
Revivo is the most philosophically coherent wellness retreat in Bali. The mind-first approach, the integrated programming, the Kerry Hill architecture, and the Balinese spiritual grounding create an experience that is more than the sum of its treatments. The Vitao longevity centre adds clinical credibility. The food is exceptional. The silence is real. The property needs to address its maintenance inconsistencies and its pricing transparency, but the core experience — a genuine reset that starts with how you think and works outward — is something that very few properties in the world deliver with this level of intention.
